We’re really excited to share this 21c Museum Hotel wedding we photographed in Lexington, Kentucky! That’s right, the 21c is both a hotel and a museum. Molly and Alex were married in the art gallery portion of the venue, surrounded by flying turtles, bird paintings and an awesome geometric wooden backdrop (made by the couple!).
Molly and Alex (despite claiming to be a couple of “goobers”) are cool as hell and their wedding day had so much rad stuff going on. Aside from the fact that they had their wedding in a friggin’ art gallery with weird taxidermied animal exhibits everywhere, they also had a lot of interesting personal touches. Alex has maybe the coolest wedding band we’ve ever seen: it’s made of bourbon barrel and deer antler! Molly had multiple dope fascinators that were made with parts of her wedding gown by the always-amazing Julie Wirts from The Dressmaker’s Closet. Molly’s mom handled the decor of the tables at the reception. And Molly and Alex even challenged our own 7-minute wedding ceremony with a brisk 8-minute ceremony. No muss, no fuss.
The day before the wedding we got to photograph their rehearsal dinner/welcome party at the Woodford Reserve Distillery. We love when clients ask us to take photos of them and their loved ones in the more relaxed confines of the rehearsal dinner. It’s a great way to get to know everyone before the big day! And we can’t really complain when we’re given some free whiskey to sip on at the end of our coverage.
And now for the SHOUT-OUTS!
- Shout out to Lockbox for providing a baller ass spread with cheeses that I’ve never even seen before and the all-important late night booze mop of pulled pork sliders.
- Shout out to Confused Confections for that work-of-art geometric cake!
- Shout out to Brandon Woolum Sound & Lighting for providing the tunes for this one.
We’re already hyped for the next 21c Museum Hotel wedding we get to shoot!
