After hugging both of our own moms on Mother’s Day, we loaded our gear into our car and took a little road trip up to Dolly Sods to shoot Michele and her daughter Sophie.
Michele is a talented landscape photographer in Virginia, so she wanted us to incorporate the beautiful scenery into her portraits with Sophie.
It doesn’t feel like you’re in West Virginia when you’re at Dolly Sods- it’s the highest plateau east of the Mississippi River, and it looks unlike any other place I’ve ever seen in the state. We drove up, up, up the mountain on a gravel road for 10 long miles before stopping at Bear Run Rocks to start shooting. Then we spent the evening exploring the gorgeous plateau with Michele & Sophie before heading back down the mountain and back home to Charleston.
Thank you, Michele and Sophie, for spending Mother’s Day with us and for being a joy to work with!
