Top 5 Wedding DJs in Charleston WV

By Bobby • March 18, 2025

So you’re planning to have a wedding in Charleston, West Virginia or the surrounding areas and you need some tunes to help your people party down. If you aren’t going the live band route, then a good DJ is an essential part of having a great reception at your wedding.

As highly experienced wedding photographers, we’ve worked with a lot of DJs, and we’ve worked many weddings with the folks you’ll see on our list. We’ve got the lowdown on the best DJs in town and we’ll help you find the one that fits your vibe.

A wedding guest's hair whips through the air as her partner gives her a spin on the dance floor.

Note that everyone you’ll find on his list is an inclusive wedding DJ who will work with LGBTQ+ couples. We won’t recommend anyone who doesn’t support our friends in the LGBTQ+ community.

Now let’s find you a DJ!

Why You Should Hire a DJ for Your Wedding

Unless your budget absolutely won’t allow it, using someone’s smartphone with a Spotify playlist really isn’t the best way to go. Having a DJ means they know how to mix in songs that fit the feel of the party at any given moment instead of just robotically rolling through a set playlist. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg for how these folks show their value!

DJs can also help keep your reception on track by making table announcements at dinner and doing general crowd control. They can help with corralling guests for large group photos. They’re also invaluable in being able to coax shy wedding guests into getting their groove on. Few things make us sadder at a wedding than a dead, barren dance floor that lasts all night long.

A bride slams a tasty beverage while rocking a cowboy hat.

One extremely underrated but nonetheless important component of hiring a DJ is in their lighting setups. Their lighting can add a lot to the feel of a reception, and speaking as a photographer, it can also add a lot to your photos! If a DJ offers uplighting you should absolutely add that to your package. Good uplighting adds a ton of depth to reception party photos!

Take it from the pros: hire a wedding DJ. Your guests will thank you.

And now here are our five favorite DJs in the Charleston WV area for soundtracking a memorable wedding reception!

The Best Wedding DJs in Charleston West Virginia

DJEJ

DJEJ working his magic on the ones and twos.

We have so much love and respect for this man. As a fellow vet and grinder in the wedding world, we’ve known EJ for a long time. This dude has been rockin’ parties in West Virginia and beyond for years and he just keeps getting better. He’s a true student of the craft, and he will cut and fade and whip your party into a frenzy like no one else.

EJ is most definitely what I would call a curator of vibes. If your party is going to be lowkey and filled with a bunch of slow ballads or country music, then this is not your DJ. He’s here to put on bangers that get the dance floor crowded and covered in sweat. If you want to PARTY then he might be the right DJ for your wedding reception. EJ offers an extensive selection of lighting setups to bring the perfect vibe for your wedding or corporate event.

DJ Nick Scott

DJ Nick Scott cooking up another killer dance floor.

The legend himself. We love Nick. He’s another guy we’ve been working weddings with since way back in the day, and he’s still one of the top DJs you’ll find in the Mountain State. Not only is he one of the most experienced DJs you could hire for your wedding, he’s also an expert at his craft. Time and time again he’s been known for his ability to break the post-dinner food coma for wedding guests, turning wallflowers into dance floor fiends.

Nick is extremely personable and he’s not shy when it comes to guest interaction and crowd control. If your wedding guests need a little bit of a nudge to get them in the mood to party, Nick is a sure thing.

Vinyl Village

The suite sounds of Vinyl Village keep the party going.

We are big vinyl nerds over here, so we love what Mark Davis does with Vinyl Village. He’ll show up to your wedding with a buttload of real records, and then proceed to kick out all the jams on sweet, sweet wax. Mark is a super chill dude and always great to work with, always working with couples to create a playlist that captures the spirit of their day.

If those warm analog vibes are the vibes you crave, then Mark is your DJ. I’d love to get a look at his record collection.

The Cat’s Meow Entertainment

Kayla of Cat's Meow doing her thing.

We’ve had the most experience working with Kayla, but we’ve had great experiences with the other DJs at Cat’s Meow. Kayla is super nice, friendly and great at working with guests and other vendors. We’ve also had Kayla work a Baraat with us in a scorching parking lot on a 100 degree day, so we know she’s down for anything that happens on a wedding day!

Level Entertainment

Rhys is an awesome dude and a great choice for a DJ that will keep your party going strong into the wee hours of the night. He’s a real pro and his approach can fit any wedding reception. He offers a nice array of lighting options and will work with you in the months leading up to your wedding to make sure everything is perfect on your big day.
