Oberports fact: we’re pretty big fans of western films. From the classics of John Ford and Howard Hawks to the spaghetti westerns of Sergio Leone, we love the stories of the old west. We love the silhouette of a cowboy hat, and horses galloping through sweeping vistas. When Taylor asked us to come do a Virginia engagement session with horses we were all in.
Our groom here is no actor though– Justin is a legit cowboy. As in Taylor and Justin met at a rodeo. That lasso on his hip isn’t a fashion accessory. If you stalk our work and Taylor looks familiar it’s because her sister’s boho farm wedding was recently featured on our blog. We did this engagement session on some of Justin’s farm land near House Mountain in Lexington, VA.
One of the coolest things about this engagement is that it started what we hope will become a new trend: the engagement dog. That’s right. That droopy-faced, handsome buddy you see in this post is named Bobby Ray and Justin gave him to Taylor when he proposed. We’re all in favor of replacing engagement rings with dogs. Speaking as a photographer, dog shots >>>>> ring shots.
