We were so stoked to finally photograph a Wilderness Lodge wedding in Summersville, WV! This venue has got to have one of the best views of any wedding venue in the entire state, rivaling that gorgeous mountain vista at Tuscan Ridge in Morgantown, the New River Gorge bridge view at Adventures on the Gorge, and the golden dome of the state capitol at the University of Charleston. Just look at that breathtaking view of the Gauley River!
If you’re a West Virginia native, you might have seen the first photo in this post before. That’s because it’s the current cover of WV Weddings magazine! This is Emily’s FIFTH cover for the magazine, and the cover couple, Melissa and Kevin likely made that editiorial decision easy. Just look at how absurdly beautiful these two folks are! Huge shoutout to Beautiful Beginnings Wedding and Event Planning for providing that gorgeous flower archway we used to frame the shot.
Melissa’s two sons were a big part of their day, and we had so much fun documenting their personalities and their special relationship with their mom and Kevin. One of the boys was learning guitar at the time of the wedding and even played The Cure’s “Just Like Heaven” for the newlyweds during the reception! We’re big fans of The Cure here in The Oberports household, so this was an especially awesome moment to witness!
