Adventures on the Gorge Wedding Photography
Adventures on the Gorge is a large wedding venue with a lot to offer for couples and their families. With its array of outdoor activities this venue is a very popular wedding destination near Fayetteville, West Virginia.
Wedding clients at this event space have plenty of options for both indoor and outdoor ceremonies and receptions. We’ve shot beautiful ceremonies here on the deck overlooking the scenic New River Gorge and we’ve photographed raucous pool party wedding receptions that rage into the night. Sometimes the weather is less than cooperative, but this resort is always prepared. Adventures on the Gorge has a tent on its event deck and its Lookout Post is perfect for indoor ceremonies and receptions.
As a busy WV tourist destination this venue sees a large amount of traffic during the summer season. If you plan on getting married here from May through October, be aware that this place will likely be full of guests dining, sightseeing and preparing to rafting excursions. Adventures on the Gorge hosts a lot of weddings and events throughout the year. If you’re getting married here there’s a good chance your wedding won’t be the only event being held on any given day.
During sunny wedding days it can be difficult to avoid the harsh midday sunlight, but we love using the event deck with a view of the New River Gorge bridge for wedding portraits!
Activities for Your Wedding Guests at Adventures on the Gorge
If you and yours are the adventurous type, this resort offers no shortage of activities. Whitewater rafting is one of AOTG’s most notable attractions, and they also offer gravity zip lines, climbing & rappelling programs, battle games, caving, and so much more. Wedding guests are never bored here!
The day before or the day after the wedding, your guests might love spending time at one of the best pools in West Virginia, the Canyon Falls Swimming pool. The deck is located right on the rim of the New River Gorge, offering stunning views of the famed New River Gorge Bridge. The pool also features beautiful stonework, a splash park for younger kids, and waterfalls – it’s really one of West Virginia’s best kept secrets!
With all of the cool activities here it’s easy to work up an appetite. Adventures has guests covered with a very nice sit-down restaurant in Smokey’s on the Gorge, a pub, coffee shop, and pizzeria all located on the premises. In our experiences as professional wedding photographers here we’ve consistently had great meals. Smokey’s also frequently serves as an indoor wedding reception space, typically during the colder months. We’ve even done weddings here where Smokey’s crafted entirely vegan dinners!
