Laughter, sweat and tears at this Cheat River wedding in West Virginia.
Kate and Adam actually ended up married before we ever shot their Cheat River wedding. Kate’s father was ill and passed before the initial wedding date, so Kate arranged a quick ceremony so her father could be part of her nuptials. With no ceremony to photograph, our task was to document a fun party, and it was a beautiful summer day for a celebration of love in the great outdoors.
One of the things we’ll always remember about this day was the cicadas. This wedding took place during the emergence of the 17-year cicada so portions of our day were soundtracked by the loud, droning chorus of thousands of cicadas. The other thing we’ll remember was the heat. It was an intensely hot and humid weekend so everyone was covered in a layer of sweat. Unfazed, Kate and Adam had plenty of cold beer and other tasty beverages on deck to beat the heat. Mountain State BBQ provided lots of tasty animal proteins to keep the party going into the night.
Kate and Adam know how to have a good time and made us feel as welcome as family during their big day. (See if you can spot Emily busting a move on the dance floor in this post!)
Here are a few of our favorite photos from our sunny and sweaty day with Kate and Adam and their nearest and dearest last summer!
