Where to start with this one? First off, Kate and Grayson are a couple of awesome, creative people with great hearts and we’re glad they brought us down south to document their day. This Cookery Durham wedding had good vibes in spades. Also it had confetti and crepes– can’t forget those!
Of particular note is The Durham Hotel, which is one of the best hotels we’ve shot at in our careers as wedding photographers. Gorgeous mid-century modern furniture and architecture with a slick minimalist slant. We really debated hard on dropping half a stack to bring some of those Raleigh Denim throw blankets home with us. Aside from photographing Kate and Gray’s getting ready, we also covered their rehearsal dinner at the rad rooftop bar in the hotel.
The wedding ceremony and reception were both at The Cookery in Durham, North Carolina. Kate and Gray’s ceremony took place in the tiny space outside of the venue and featured details like a custom runner painted by the couple. Another piece painted by the pair was also hung inside the reception area.
All weddings can be improved by the presence of a good food truck. This wedding featured a freakin’ crepe food truck because Kate and Gray have excellent taste. They chose to forego the traditional wedding cake in favor of a variety of sweet crepes from the now-defunct Parlez-Vous Crepes. We’re always down to bust some traditions. Crepes are excellent post-dinner wedding fare because they serve as a delectable and reliable booze mop. More crepes at weddings, please.
